Knights and what not....So uh... i was looking for rules/regulations about becoming a knight in dag and i found that there are none. Basically you call yourself a knight it you want to be one. most of the other foam fighting groups like amptgard and darkon have extremely strict rules for becoming a knight, and i was just wandering why dag didnt, I know i should probably ask the world boards but i figured i'd just ask the realm and see what you guys had to say about it.
On another note, i probably wont be making it to practice much anymore, at least not for the summer. I took a job at the verizon wireless music center catering to bands and whatnot and i'm booked for shows almost everyweekend all the way till Aug. so yeah... i guess just keep it real guys um........................i love you

Yes there are no official rules to become a knight.
But if you want to be respected as a knight you need to become a squire to either a knight or a realm for a period of time and endure test and what not. Each realm and order of knighthood has it's own ideas and rules for what they think a knight should be so if you are interested look around and see what you can find that suits you.

Anvil is pretty much correct.
You can squire to a person who is already a knght. You can also squire to a realm, sometimes under a knight's supervision. In either system you should have the knight or realm or both set tasks, challenges and requirements for you. Ideally, you grow as a person and fighter while helping grow your realm and the sport in general.
Yes, some people do just declare themselves "sir (insert name here)", but it is rare and not looked well upon in most cases. In the far gone days of dag, some of the first "knight" characters had to in order to start the process. That was a very different case. In the now, you really shouldn't need to.
The question you should ask is why you would want to be a knight?

Right on...Its not really that i want to be a knight, I was just kind of curious because i know for instance in amptgaurd becoming a knight is a huge thing....like Years upon years of training and commitment and i was just wandering if there was some unwritten rule about it. So thanks to both of you for clearing that up for me

Hoped that might help.
It's a big "big thing" in Bel too, with years and years of work as just a base minumum, I just didn't want to swamp you.
